Forums Archives

Don’t get me wrong, I love automation software and even write it myself, but there’s a very simple way to submit your ads quickly to forums WITHOUT buying software and WITHOUT missing other advertising opportunities in the forums. Here’s how you do it and I’ll provide a great resource as well…!

What is a Forum?

I hope you’re not that new, but even if you are forums are a great place to both learn and advertise your products and services. A forum is a special type of website which allows users to post questions, answers and advertisements.

Can I Make Money Advertising in Forums?

Yes you can! Both short term, by other posters seeing your advertisements and long term by creating backlinks to your website in both your significant file and your actual announcements

Does That Mean I Need a Website to Post to Forums?

No, you don’t need a website to post to forums, however, if you’re serious about being in business you should have an office where people can walk in and see your products and services. On the internet your office is your website. If you’re planning on making long term money on the internet, you should get an office, I mean website.

What Is A Signature File?

A signature file is text or graphics that appears at the bottom of all your posts. It’s created in your profile (don’t worry you’ll find it) and should contain a short soft sales pitch and link to your site. Don’t get them to buy in the sig file just get the other users and guests to click your link. All forums have different rules about sig files. Since I’m both a marketer and a family man I tend to be pretty lenient with my forums and do my best to help my members feed their families. They, general return the favor if I recommend a product or service.

Okay, I Understand, But It Sounds Time Consuming. What is This Fast Method You Have to Post to Forums?

There are five steps toward preparing to post quickly to forums

1. Prepare your ad copy or announcement

2. Join Forums and set some items up

3. Know how to copy and paste (don’t worry I’ll explain it)

4. Learn the keyboard shortcut for posting

5. List your forums a particular way

1. Prepare Your Ad Copy or Announcement

I won’t go into what advertisements require to be successful That’s for another article or book, but I will discuss the formatting.

Make the subject of your post the first line in your text file. Below that put your sales pitch designed to get your prospect to click on your hyperlink. Place any subscription information you have in there as well. Put your hyperlink at the bottom of your text. Remember to use http:// To make your link active.

2. Join Forums And Set Some Items Up

After you join you’ll usually get an email to activate your membership. When you click the link to do this log yourself in “Forever”. If you have a choice of internet browsers use Firefox. It’s free and gives you the option to remember your username and password. When you log in, set the forum up to log in “forever”. This will save you a lot of time later.

3. Know How to Copy and Paste (Don’t Worry I’ll Explain It)

Create an email or if you know how an html document with hyperlinks.

Now here’s your time saving shortcut:

Find the board in the forum that allows you to place an advertisement.

Left mouse click on New Topic within that board. Sometimes it says New Post.

Click in the address bar on top of your browser

Right mouse click

Left mouse click on Copy

Open your email or web page editor

Left mouse click in the body of your email or html editor

Right mouse click in the body of the email

Do a number of these and send the email to yourself. You now have a list of links in your email which will open a section to post your announcement immediately thus saving you approximately five clicks per post.

4. Learn the Keyboard Shortcut for Posting

If you’re using Internet Explorer Alt s can be used to submit your post. I tried this with Firefox and it didn’t work. You can use your mouse to left mouse click on the Submit button below your advertisement.

5. List your forums a particular way

A Guide by a Mod, for a Future Mod

I don’t care if you believe this or not, but I played RuneScape for 3 years before quitting. After 1 year of playing, I was given hacker forum Moderator status. 3 months after that, I was given a silver crown. If you don’t believe me, then simply don’t read. But I will tell you this. If you follow my runescape guide, your chances of becoming a player mod will increase.

What RuneScape says makes you become ‘Recognized’

What it really takes to be a player mod.

Jagex mentions briefly that being active on the hacker forums is part of it. It is true. Post on the hacker forums as much as possible. Post in places that you are familiar with, and don’t break hacker forum rules. There are Jmods constantly patrolling the hacker forums, so your name will be noticed.
Reporting players is a must, but If you use the ‘Bounty Hunter’ tactic (Standing in Varrock reporting autotypers, etc.) then you may not be picked. After looking in the player mod hacker forums, it seems that Jagex picks players who like to have fun in game. So when you report players, do it while playing the game. Don’t just sit at the yews and report macroers.
Jagex mentions that helping out other players helps. It does, but usually not when you do it in game. There is no real great wayto help players in game, Seeing as there is no ‘Report a kind player’ button. My advice is to help people using the official hacker forums.
A clean record is almost always necessary. Jagex chooses over 50 new mods a month and out of that only mods about 10. You can bet that the ones with no offences will be chosen.
This is not mentioned in the knowledge base, but player mods can suggest other players to be modded. Therefore, if you are good friends with a player mod, you will have a better chance of being recognized.
Correct grammar and spelling… Jagex doesn’t want illiterate players representing their company in game.
Player Mod Rumors… and the truth

-Player mods can ban people.

No, but they can mute players…

-Player mods are Jagex staff in disguise.
